Visualization I, “Vis I”
2006-12

This introductory hand-drawing course developed foundational skills in spatial representation through linear perspective and rendering. Emphasis was placed on constructing perspectival grids by hand—without templates—to cultivate an understanding of depth, scale, vanishing points, and projective geometry. Students engaged perspective not only as a visual convention but as a tool for spatial analysis. Though many initially struggled with the abstractions of perspective, this challenge proved essential in deepening their comprehension of spatial structure. Through iterative drawing and rendering exercises, students refined their visual acuity and developed a nuanced grasp of spatial relationships and material effects in three-dimensional environments.
